The Envision Dynamics PC-N079A is a rechargeable 79.4Ah NCM lithium-ion pouch cell with 3.73V nominal voltage and 296Wh nominal energy. Its specification identifies vehicle power systems as an application. This is an individual cell, not a protected battery pack or a complete vehicle battery system. Buyers planning a module or custom pack should assess the required cell layout, electrical limits, cooling, mechanical support, monitoring and protection against the conditions of their specific project.
PC-N079A has a specified nominal capacity of 79.4Ah and nominal voltage of 3.73V. The capacity measurement uses a 26.5A charge and discharge procedure at 25 ± 2°C, with discharge ending at 2.8V. These conditions matter when comparing cells: available capacity in a finished battery system depends on current, temperature, voltage limits and pack design.
The manufacturer specifies 296Wh nominal energy and a cell weight of 1.10 ± 0.015kg. The drawing gives a 548 ± 1 × 103 ± 1 × 8.7 ± 0.2mm cell body, with 612mm overall length including tabs shown as a reference dimension. Pouch-cell integration must account for tab clearance, insulation and mechanical support rather than treating the drawing as finished-pack dimensions.
At 25 ± 2°C, the specified continuous discharge current is 158.8A, while the standard discharge current is 26.5A. The datasheet also describes a separate 3C rate-discharge performance test; that test must not be presented as the continuous operating rating. System designers should size conductors, protection and thermal management for the permitted operating conditions of the complete assembly.
Standard charging uses 26.5A constant current to 4.35V, followed by constant voltage charging until current falls to 3.97A. The stated standard charge time is 3.4 hours at 25 ± 2°C. The specification separately lists 103.2A continuous charge current at that temperature and a 30-minute charge from 15% to 80% SOC; charging controls must follow the applicable operating limits.
The specified DC resistance is 1.4 ± 0.2mΩ, measured at 25 ± 2°C and 50% SOC using a 4C, 10-second DC test. A separate 1kHz AC impedance value of 0.9 ± 0.2mΩ is measured at 30% SOC. The two figures come from different methods and should be compared with like-for-like measurements when checking incoming cells.
Cycle-life specifications are at least 2,000 cycles at 25 ± 2°C and at least 1,500 cycles at 45 ± 2°C, measured to 80% state of health with 0.5C charging, 1C discharging and 100% depth of discharge. The stated operating ranges are -20 to 55°C for charging and -30 to 55°C for discharging; temperature-dependent controls remain necessary.
